Who are RCM?
RCM, consists of two friends/colleagues who met whilst working at Homerton University Hospital. Curtis (right) was Admissions Booking Clerk and is now Head of Membership Engagement for the City & Hackney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), with a background in event management. Marc (left) was a Patients Initiative Officer and is now an Individual Funding Request Manager in North East London Commissioning Support Unit (CSU).
It was during a conversation about the lack of staff events at Homerton that we came up with the idea of organising a Christmas Party for our fellow staff and colleagues. We felt that NHS staff work hard all year and deserve the chance to let their hair down.
However, we did not want the event to be your typical cheesy office party. We were intent on delivering a party with a mixture of music and great vibes, where staff of all ages and cultures felt comfortable.
The first event took place in December 2007 at Jamies Bar in Bishopsgate and tickets sold out within one week of going on sale. The night was a resounding success. Following on from this success and the amazing feedback received, we decided to ho st regular events and open them up to other London trusts.
In 2010 we introduced a dinner and dance option for departments and services to book their Christmas parties. We have gone on from strength to strength, and at the 2012 Christmas party we had guests travel from outer London attend.
Marc has worked in the NHS for approximately 20 years, and currently works as an Individual Funding Request Manager for patients requiring non-routine NHS treatment.
In addition to promoting events with RCM, Marc also has a street food catering business. This is following in the footsteps of his father a well-known chef in the West LA area in California. Marc specialises in Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat, two popular Jamaican dishes, but he also compliments these dishes with a contemporary British twist!
Marc has also been involved in a number of volunteering projects; assisting with cooking and providing emotional support for residents at a shelter for the homeless. He also previously volunteered to work with young disadvantaged teenagers, to host an annual 5-a-side football tournament.
Curtis has worked in the NHS for approximately 10 years, starting out at Homerton Hospital. He currently works at the City & Hackney CCG in the role of Head of Membership Engagement. Manchester-born, Curtis is also a DJ, going by the name Mr Whyte. He has been spinning the decks for over 10 years, with a passion for pleasing the crowds that almost exceeds his extensive & eclectic collection of music from around the World.
Born into a musical family, Mr Whyte is the lastest in a long line of DJ predecessors. He credits this early introduction to music as the catalyst for igniting his DJing interests.
Aside from DJing, Curtis also shows a keen interest in event management, successfully organising and hosting numerous events in the UK and abroad. Such as The Getaway and Gorgeous Getaway. In 2014 Curtis launched his own company supplying speakers, lighting and DJs for weddings and events Intryst Hire.
